Physicals, Vaccines & Well-Child Visits

Providing Compassionate Pediatric Care

Experts recommend that parents start searching for a pediatrician weeks before their baby is scheduled to be born. It’s important for expecting parents to find a doctor that they have already met and feel comfortable with before their baby is delivered so that they don’t have to scramble to find medical care while dealing with the stress of having a newborn. Moreover, finding a pediatrician early will help ensure that your baby gets important health screenings, vaccines, and immunizations at the right times. Cornerstone Care takes the health and wellness of children very seriously, and we look forward to becoming your lifelong healthcare provider. If you are looking for pediatricians in southern Pittsburgh or the southwestern Pennsylvania area, look no further than the doctors at Cornerstone Care!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pediatrician?

A pediatrician is a medical doctor that specializes in the health of infants, children and teenagers. Most pediatricians have been certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Why Does my Child Need a Pediatrician?

Every child should have a pediatrician, even if they appear to be perfectly healthy. Pediatricians not only offer medical care when your child is sick, they also offer preventative care, vaccinations, immunizations, and general advice and support for parents.

How Often Should my Child See the Pediatrician?

Well-baby and well-child visits are essential to track your child’s growth and development, as well as bring up any concerns you may have about their health. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that parents have 7 well-child visits between the ages of 1 and 4 at the following ages:

  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 30 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years

After four years of age, children should visit the pediatrician for check-ups every year. Of course, your child may need to visit the doctor more often depending on their unique health needs.

Can I Meet my Pediatrician Before my Baby is Born?

Yes. Our patients are more than welcome to schedule a visit with one of our pediatricians when they are pregnant. In fact, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all soon-to-be parents visit a pediatrician during the third trimester of pregnancy in order to build a trusting relationship with a doctor for their child.
